Votnut manages to show quite a bit of promise in their self titled EP. This is impressive because it clocks in at under 9 minutes and despite reminding me of Anaal Nathrakh there is unquestionably a unique style at play here. Great riffs, enviable guitar tone, and ample aggression. While I like songs that are longer than the six on this EP, it sounds like Votnut has plenty of ideas and can string them together well enough to make this a really exciting release.
